Los Wembler's de Iquitos – psychedelic cumbia from Amazonas  Los Wembler’s de Iquitos is the family ensemble from the Peruvian rainforest that in the late 1960s laid the foundation for an entire musical phenomenon: chicha, or cumbia amazonica, as the band originally called their music, is a joyous hotchpotch of indigenous traditions with neighbouring Latin American genres and a large dose of psychedelic surf rock. With effervescent electric guitar melodies and clattering rhythms the Sanchez brothers have made audiences dance for over five decades. After an unexpected international chicha revival in the late 2000s the band started releasing new music again and are now touring the globe.
